Blanket Stitch (Felt Appliqué)

When used in appliqué, the blanket stitch is stitched along the edge of a piece of fabric to attach it to the background fabric.

Whipstitch

The whipstitch (sometimes called the overcast stitch in certain applications) is another stitch used primarily in hand appliqué to attach two pieces of felt together. This series of straight stitches is sewn perpendicular to the edge of the fabric piece to hold it in place.
