Setting out on this journey to create art and craft words that will bring encouragement and inspiration to other women has not been an easy one. Many times I’ve felt like I’ve been fumbling along, having to learn just about every aspect of “business” from scratch. As a small business owner and entrepreneur-artist I’ve longed to connect with other like-minded people who are farther along, or in the same boat, so we can share knowledge gained from experiences, as well as wisdom and encouragement. These connections can be especially hard to find in a world where there is so much noise. I’ve had to sift through many organizations, blogs and online courses to find content that aligned with my values and the way I want to do business, but I’m happy to say there is some great stuff out there!
If you’re a small business owner, a leader in some aspect or a person with a valuable message to share, these are a few of the resources that have blessed and challenged me and I hope you find them helpful too!
One of my all-time favorite podcasts, Michael Hyatt’s show topics range from intentional leadership to blogging to self-care and more. Chock-full of wisdom, his podcast (as well as his blog) share so much of what Michael Hyatt has learned as a former CEO and now author and virtual mentor. I love how he is all about intentional living and making your one life count.
Amy Portferfield’s podcast shares practical advice and interviews surrounding how to tackle the dreaded topic of self-promotion through online marketing. Amy always offers a wealth of useful information and gives top-notch advice!
An organization and blog supporting female entrepreneurs, ministry leaders and small business owners, Grit & Virtue is geared toward the woman who believes she is serving a greater purpose in the work that she does. As I dig into their content, I love knowing I’m not alone in my struggles, fears and passions.
As part of Dale Partridge’s StartupCamp organization, this podcast is all about helping leaders and entrepreneurs build their dream business as they learn from other leaders in the marketplace and ministry world. Dale, a business coach, author and speaker, features some really fantastic people (like Scott Harrison, Alli Worthington and Michael Hyatt) on his podcast so definitely take a listen and see what you can learn!
This is a newer podcast I’ve started listening to, hosted by business strategist Tara Gentile. Each episode features an interview and explores tactics and strategies other artists and entrepreneurs have used to build their businesses and pursue what’s most important to them.
Propel’s mission is: "Helping women internalize a leadership identity & fulfill their purpose, passion & potential." I’m just beginning to delve into what they offer, which includes a host of articles and videos as well as a book club, workshops and conferences.
Question: That’s my list - how about you? What is one of your favorite resources to learn from, whether for business, leadership or life?
