If you follow me on social media, you’ll see that I recently won a giveaway Commonthread was doing for a full set of DMC floss. Wow! This was PRETTY EXCITING - a full set is over 450 skeins of embroidery floss in every color imaginable - enough to make any embroiderer drool.
I stumbled across the Commonthread website last year while reading about metallic thread on DMC’s website. If you’re not familiar with the Commonthread site and have an interest in fiber art, you should check them out. Commonthread is DMC’s website to shop for fiber arts and crafts and discover handmade goodies. Not only can you purchase a host of products and supplies for sewing, embroidery, crocheting, knitting and more, but Commonthread also offers some really unique DIY kits plus the work of artisans for sale on their site. They also have a blog of tutorials, projects and patterns you can explore.
Here are some of my favorites:
Fruit of the Month Calendar Kit - These beautiful illustrated calendar cards are printed up and punched for a simple embroidery project to enjoy throughout the year.
Year in Stitches Cross Stitch Calendar Kit - Similar to the fruit calendar, these calendar cards come with thread so you can turn each calendar page into a cross stitched work of art.
Elegance Cross Stitch Kit - Add some class to your cross stitch with this Audrey Hepburn DIY kit. Simple yet elegant.
Cupcakes Amigurumi Kit - Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals or other objects. These cupcakes would be fun for a little girl’s room, or keep them for yourself! ;)
Rotary Phone Hoop Art - Though this is not a DIY kit, I just love how clever these rotary phones are put together!
Zoe Crochet Cross Body Bag - This cute bag is an example of just one of the beautiful items made by artisans selling on Commonthread.
So if you’re looking to try a new craft, brush up on existing skills, or just appreciate artisan-made items, take a look at Commonthread and see what they have to offer!
