When someone asks you how you’re doing, do you ever answer, “Busy”? I know I used to answer that way all the time. This type of “busy” that I was experiencing was not a life-giving busy though. It was draining more than energizing. This kind of busy constantly left me feeling exhausted and like I was drowning. It was the kind of busy that sucks your soul dry.
If that’s the kind of busy that you’re feeling too, then I’ve got good news: there is a way out.
Recently I heard author Alli Worthington on a podcast talking about her book Breaking Busy: How to Find Peace and Purpose in a World of Crazy. When she said I could learn how to kill busy and get my life back, I was definitely intrigued! Over the last few years I’d already begun to make changes to my life to let go of busy and take up my purpose. But reading Alli’s book was incredibly validating and filled with practical tidbits on how to keep pressing forward.
Choosing to be proactive now about removing unhealthy aspects of busyness from your life will make room for you too to discover what is right and best for you, wherever you are now. It will set you on a path to greater fulfillment and allow you to use your gifts for their intended purposes. The beautiful thing is: this looks different for everyone. What is best for one person, may not be best for you, and that is totally ok!
