As spring in New Jersey has been unseasonably cool this year, and quite rainy, I found myself breaking out my watercolors more than once to refresh myself with some color. (For a short timelapse video of one of my color studies, click here!) Playing with different patterns and colorways began to trigger all sorts of fun ideas. In fact, I ended up scanning a number of my paintings and ordered a new batch of custom fabric so I could expand my new product line! I'm excited to be adding several new pieces, all focused on the power of words. Why? I've always enjoyed incorporating words and phrases into my art because the right word is both life-giving and beautiful.
I’m particularly excited for these designs because they will pair beautifully with my existing pillows and embroidery hoops. But even more than that, they will speak “a kind word” as the biblical Proverb above so perfectly describes.
Throughout our days we can be bombarded with all sorts of lies about our worth, our abilities, and how we are measuring up as women. Or busyness hijacks us and we forget to focus on what’s most important in our lives. I know I need a constant flow of life-giving words throughout my week so I can focus on the right things and live intentionally. So my desire is for these new pieces of art to “speak” encouraging words, or be inspiring reminders when you need it most. I can’t wait to show you more! Below are just a few of the many color studies I’ve been working on.
