As we enter the last month of the year, I find it challenging to stay present during such a busy season of shopping, visiting and holiday prep. More than ever, it’s difficult to slow down, refuel and be intentional about embracing the wonder of the Christmas season.
In creating this month’s calendar I wanted to deliberately point toward Christ’s arrival on earth and the season of Advent. December’s art print features one of my embroidered ornaments (which is sadly all sold out!) and I hope you will enjoy it’s message as you anticipate Christmas. You can download it here and print it on two pieces of letter-sized paper.
I also wanted to share some resources I’m delving into as I seek to be intentional about celebrating Advent, and I hope you’ll find these useful too!
- On her blog Emily P. Freeman lists 5 Books for Advent Reading. I decided to purchase The Greatest Gift: Unwrapping the Full Love Story of Christmas by Ann Voskamp and will be reading it each day leading up to Christmas.
- Check out the daily Advent devotionals on She Reads Truth - they also have an app where you can enjoy daily readings on your phone.
- Lastly, a friend shared with me about the #anticipationadventproject her church is doing. Each day, they post a word prompt on Instagram that you can reflect on and share in your feed with a photo of what it means to you. I’m trying to participate with this activity as a break during the work day.
I’d love to know how you celebrate Advent. Are there resources you enjoy or traditions you maintain? Please share below!
