Gift Ideas to Delight the Hand Embroiderer and Fiber Artist

Gift Ideas to Delight the Hand Embroiderer and Fiber Artist

November 6, 2019

I had so much fun putting together last year’s stitcher gift guide that I just had to do another one! If you are looking for ideas for an individual who loves to cross stitch, embroider, hand sew, or dabble in fiber related crafts, I hope this wishlist will give you some good stocking stuffer and gift ideas (maybe even for yourself!)

Rustic Moire Wool Threads

These gorgeously textured wool threads are beautiful for stitching with felt wool. I love the imperfections, variations in color, and the reusable wooden spools they’re wrapped on! Plus they’re available in 50 different colors!

DIY Bargello Earrings

I’ve been following along with @hellobargello on Instagram for awhile and am fascinated with this craft. (Plus the tapestry wool is so lovely!) The Hello Bargello! website has several fun DIY kits, but I think my favorite are these bargello earrings, available in different colorways.

Project Floss Organizer

Looking for a way to organize a large number of threads for your current stitching project? This floss organizer kit has room for 30 colors and keeps your threads tangle free!

Vintage Embroidery Designs

I’ve been completely enthralled with these gorgeous embroidery kits by Linladan. Featuring linen embroidery thread and designs rescued from the archive of the Swedish embroidery company Nordiska/Niab, I’m using these as part of my self-care creative outlets (separate from my business) as I talk about in this blog post. These kits and threads sell out very quickly so check back often for restocks.

Travel-Friendly Embroidery Scissors

If you need a tiny pair of scissors to take with you when you travel, these cute Flower Power scissors are just 2.5 inches long and perfect for an on-the-go stitching project.

Silk Ribbon for Ribbon Embroidery

I’ve never tried ribbon embroidery, but have always been intrigued by the lovely silk flowers I’ve seen stitched. These beautiful hand dyed silk ribbons from Japan are just begging to be a part of your next silk embroidery project.

Magnetic Needle and Scissor Carrier

Another great tool for traveling - this magnetic case for your needles and a small pair of embroidery scissors! Nice and compact for stowing, and they come in such pretty colors!

Gorgeous Wool Felt

After doing my 30 Days of Felt Appliqué project, I’ve really enjoyed using the wool felt from Benzie Design’s shop. Choose from one of their existing color palettes for your next hand appliqué project, or select from a variety of colors whether in smaller cuts, or several yards.

Patchwork Quilt Patterns

I’ve been wanting to learn basic quilting and love everything in Patchwork Pottery’s shop! All of their downloadable patterns are rated 1-5 buttons with a 1 button pattern being for a beginner. I’ve purchased a couple of simple patchwork patterns which I’m currently working on!

Magnetic Needle Minder

I couldn’t round out this gift guide without this super practical needle minder that I recently designed! There’s nothing worse than misplacing your needle as you stitch (I’ve done it way too many times!) and I love the strong magnet on this lapel pin. It makes a perfect stocking stuffer for the stitchers in your life!
